There are three osteopaths working within the surgery, all qualified at the British School of Osteopathy and all are registered with the General Osteopathic Council, which is a legal requirement for anyone wanting to practice as an osteopath.
The surgery can accept patients covered by BUPA, PPP and most other private health insurance companies. A prior authorisation from your insurance supplier will be required.
We treat patients from all over London and the South East including Beckenham, Bickley, Bromley, Chislehurst, Croydon, Petts Wood, Orpington, Sidcup, West Wickham and further afield. In our central London premises we treat patients from all over London and the surrounding areas.
Our Osteopaths are:
• Charles Read, D.O.
• Alison Read, BSc (Hons) Ost
• Tanya Clift-Simpson, MOst BA Hons
Charles graduated from the British School of Osteopathy in 1989 with a Diploma in Osteopathy, D.O. (now reclassified as a BSc (Hons) Ost.). Charles is registered with the General Osteopath Council (GOsC) and is a member of the Institute of Osteopathy.
Charles spends each Thursday morning in his London Clinic at 10 Harley Street and the rest of his week in the Bromley Clinic.
Charles has over 25 years’ experience in all aspects of Osteopathy and uses a range of techniques including soft tissue, articulation, traction release and manipulation.
Alison (Charles’ sister) graduated from the British School of Osteopathy in 2003 with a First Class Honours Degree in Osteopathy, like Charles is registered with the GOsC and is a member of the Institute of Osteopathy. She has experience in all aspects of osteopathy, including animal osteopathy. She treats both human and canine patients in her Forest Row practice. Alison completed a post-graduate course in Canine Osteopathy at the European School of Osteopathy.
Prior to 2003 she worked as a Biology Lecturer in East London Further Education College, having gained a BSc (Hons) in Biological Sciences from Aston University in 1982, followed by a Post Graduate Certificate in Education for FE (PGCE) from Garnet College in 1983. After leaving teaching as a career she worked for BTEC (later to become Edexcel) as an Education Advisor for five years.
She combines her experience as an educator with her osteopathic skills to encourage patients’ understanding of their structural problems.
Tanya Clift-Simpson, MOst, BA Hons
Tanya trained at the British School of Osteopathy after receiving treatment for disc injuries during pregnancy. She graduated in 2010 with an MOst (Masters in Osteopathy). She also has a western acupuncture qualification (also known as ‘dry needling’).
Tanya is a mum of three and is experienced and trained in osteopathic treatment particularly of children and babies, baby massage, and cranial osteopathy. Tanya is an experienced horsewoman and uses her sports experience to deal with many riding injuries and other sports injuries.
Charles and Alison Read have treated myself and my family for over 20 years now and I cannot recommend the practice highly enough.
They have helped me immensely through back problems caused by a fall as a child and chronic back pain due to high stress. They also treated my very ill mother with care and compassion and have become an integral part of mine and my family’s life.
