An osteopath can help by understanding and identifying the cause of your pain and treating/managing that, rather than treating only the pain itself.
No surgery or drugs are involved. Osteopathy is a hands-on treatment using a variety of techniques including soft-tissue massage, articulation, traction release and gentle joint manipulations where required. We also use exercise programs and give postural advice.
If there are any other treatments or exercise regimes we feel would be helpful in your case we would advise accordingly.
All our treatments aim to restore the optimal functioning of the tissues/structures involved and aim to restore balance.
We may advise when your pain has been alleviated that you continue with a course of exercises for you to do at home, postural advice and maintenance treatments if you wish.
After having two hip replacements and some spinal problems I needed pain relief and mobility help. I received this by having regular treatment from Mr Charles Read at his osteopathic practice. He and his two colleagues are dedicated to their work and have given so many people a better quality of life. I would not have kept so active without the help and advice from Mr Read. His receptionists are always helpful and do try to arrange appointments quickly if it is an emergency.
How can cranial osteopathic techniques help me and my baby?
Our Osteopaths also use Cranial Osteopathic Techniques which can be especially helpful in treating babies and young children although many other patients can benefit from this type of treatment.
Cranial Osteopathy involves extremely gentle techniques on the cranial bones of the skull, the spinal column and all associated structures.
Please call the surgery for more information and to discuss which practitioner may be most suited to your needs.
